Truth and Life

I was fortunate enough, years ago, to meet David and experience some of his wisdom. This is something he wrote about ‘truth’ and the freshness and the intelligence behind ‘life’. Whatever you may be experiencing in your days, reading this will help. When I read it, it makes me feel at peace and in tune.

Truth and Life

By David Grant Chambers

Preface. If you could turn off all your personal thoughts and
feelings for a while, the truth of who you are would eventually dawn on you. Then I wonder if you would switch your self back on again?

The presence of life is always here now. So pure and swift is life that it is inconceivable to the plodding human mind. Also, life does not hold on. Life is always fresh and new now, sustained by the mystery within. Getting in touch with the way of life now, means getting out of the way of the pain and confusion of it all. This requires a love and intelligence that is greater than me personally and yet is who I am.

The genius of life is reflected in the movement of circumstances and events and living in the knowledge that what is happening and what I am experiencing is necessary in accordance with the wisdom that is creating it.

The purpose of life for me, is to wake up to the truth. Being unconscious of the truth is painful and pain helps me to awaken. The purpose of emotional pain is to send me a message that what I think is love, is not love at all!

Pain will never let me delight in pleasure for long, while I remain unconscious of truth. Pain’s purpose naturally ends when the truth becomes known.

Life unfolds regardless of how I feel. How I feel is determined largely by the state of my mind. How I feel is my responsibility. What I do is my duty to life.

The human mind is the knowledge of past experience. Conscious observation of this knowledge reveals it to be acquired and mechanical in function.I know now that whatever the mind may think, it is of absolutely no importance because life goes on and life goes on now.

I can always return to the present now- consciously. Whenever I perceive this presence or present moment for myself, I am out of the unconscious thinking mind. Being in this state without interruption could be the meaning of enlightened living?

Being informed directly from within. Not having to think, to decide. Just being true to the situation and marveling at the sheer brilliance of it all.

I live in absolute trust of this divine principle behind the way of things.
